TN snow on the homestead
Rain changed to snow last night and gave the homestead a little dusting. Snow showers continue today 2/13/08 in Murfreesboro. Nice to see once in a while.
True to southern tradition, all area schools were closed due to this half inch snow.
We got a dusting here in Oswego, well more like a foot or so, but you know that's just the way it goes up here. We got about 27.5 inches over the weekend (Minetto, NY about 5 miles south of here, registered 40+ inches.
The fella who used to do "The Woodwright Shop" on PBS said, once, that black locust would last two years longer than granite. It is, I'm told, absolutely bugproof.

Looks like you got more than we did in Coffee County. Just ice here.

Is that an authentic log home?

It is, handhewn in the 1830's. All Eastern Cedar.
William:
Cool. Is the sill cedar also, or black locust?

Sills have been replaced with conventional pressure treated. I wish I could mill the locust trees on my property, thats some seriously hard wood.
