Rodrigo Guitar Concerto Performance with the TN Philharmonic

Last night, Monday Feb. 5, I performed the Fantasia para un gentilhombre - by Joaquin Rodrigo with the Tennessee Philharmonic. This guitar concerto, based on themes of 17th century Spanish guitarist Gaspar Sanz, takes the form of a Baroque suite. The setting was wonderful, acoustics excellent and the performance very good considering we had just one rehearsal. I played an encore, a flamenco dance called a Farruca. Look for a review in the Murfreesboro Daily News Journal. The attendance was quite good considering it was one of the coldest nights of the year. Thanks to all that attended, and those who missed it, you might have to wait another several years to see me in tails again. It's rare to get an opportunity to play a guitar concerto in one's home town.

To our dismay we were among the missing. However, we were in attendance that glorious day the Artist made his very first appearance (without 'tails'). His Mom and I wish him continued success.

As much a treat for the eyes as for the ears. Definitely someone known for his tails. Wish you continued success in your life of Riley.
